How to Build a Fan-Worthy Facebook Page
I know there is a lot out there on Facebook fan pages, however I felt there were still some basics missing with the masses, hence my latest column with Entrepreneur. It is time that you made some changes to your fan page. The features are changing daily- keep up with them and it is no longer about the “Likes” (actually it never really was).
Article-
As Facebook continues to enhance its fan page options, businesses are not only struggling to keep up with the changes, but they also are still trying to figure out how to brand and market their pages. Because of some of the changes, strategies you used just last month to increase your “likes” and interactions with fans may not be as effective.
Here are a few quick branding fixes that will make it easier for prospects to find you, as well as some tips on getting more fans–or what I prefer to call interested prospects.
No.1 – Brand the URL. If your fan page URL is still set with a bunch of numbers, you are making it harder for prospects to find you and missing out on a branding opportunity. Facebook recently lifted the requirement that you get 25 “likes” before you can name your fan page URL. Now, all you need to do is go to www.facebook.com/username and set your name in the URL, which is great for branding purposes and easy link referrals. For example, instead of www.facebook.com/1283743hreu818, my link is now www.Facebook.com/StarrHalldotcom.

Vote For My WebTV Show Co-Host
We are putting the final touches, set, equipment and segments together for my new webtv show, however I decided recently that we need to add one more thing- I don’t want to talk to and with myself, therefore I decided to bring on a co-host. I would greatly appreciate your help by going to the link below, it will take you to my Facebook page where you can view each one minute video and then choose one to vote for. You can only vote one time and for one video and remember if you don’t vote then you can’t complain (hehee).
On another note- what about you? What are you doing in 2012 with video, digital or mobile marketing? I would love to hear.
More to come from me, I am diving into as much as I can so that I can share only the best business and relationship building sites, technologies and tips with YOU!

Time for NEW Headshot photos!
When it comes to a personality brand image, there is nothing more important than keeping your personal headshot photos up to date AND choosing an experienced photographer. I recently hired a local photographer- Melissa Fitzpatrick and spent an afternoon with her sticking a camera in my face. Although I am constantly in the spot light when speaking and on media interviews, I actually have a very hard time taking photos (hence wanting vino for every photo shoot).
I found the experience this round to not only be fun and educational but no vino was needed. Melissa immediately made me feel at ease and was beyond prepared by bringing lighting equipment with her, a pack with all of her equipment AND she had already checked out places to go with different backdrops in the downtown area.
When my photo link came back today I was shocked at how many photos she took and more importantly I actually found more than one that I liked. She knew just how to position me and the 50 lb lighting that she was carrying around.
I would LOVE your opinion on which one you think I should change to on my sites and branding…at least for the next 6 months.
A few different looks- I lettered them. Thank you so much for your feedback. And HEY- when is the last time you had your photos done? Hmmmmm….

Behind The Scenes- #Fail…Coming Soon
Although sharing successes are certainly great, empowering, inspiring and just all around awesome, I want to talk about failures and challenges as an entrepreneur. A few months ago I started to wonder if entrepreneurs would be interested in reading/learning about my failures/mistakes, so, I surveyed 100 people from my contact list and 97% of them said- HECK YAH!
I think it is important as an entrepreneur to share these with you so that you can learn from as well as know that EVERY SINGLE PERSON, even if they are at a higher business growth level than you experiences failures, challenges and upsets along the way. It is how we deal with them that matters. I will be sharing videos, posts and stories throughout 2012…yes even my Ben & Jerry’s days in PJS- oh yah, here I come…uncensored. Are you ready?

Seven Tips for Marketing a Business With Video
Here it is, my latest column with Entrepreneur.com- (PS- stay tuned for more info and posts on/about my upcoming webtv show, oh yah it’s gonna be some biz building fun!)
COLUMN: As more people use the Internet in search of information, online video becomes increasingly important for reaching and connecting with followers, fans and customers. Video’s rise in power as a marketing tool is due to its attractiveness to web surfers. By adding a smile and a friendly voice, you can build rapport with your customers faster and help them relate to your business on a more personal level.
Video connects customers on a deeper level because it covers and reaches out to different types of learning styles: the visual where people learn by reading or seeing demonstrations of a product or service and the auditory where people connect by listening to audio.
Videos also help sites show up higher on the search engines. Browsers and search engines are becoming savvier and are spending less time reading endless web pages of text. Instead, they are picking up on keywords tagged on videos appearing on sites.
As a growing business, it is important that you integrate video into your online marketing efforts. Even if you start with a basic video tip on how to best use your product or service, just get it recorded and post it to YouTube, your own website and/or blog. Although most people like humor and creativity, they also like messages that help them save time or money or makes their life easier, and that’s what you can provide.

If you know your product and your clients and can push yourself hard, you can become your own publicist, says social media authority and author Starr Hall.
Tech Sunday: At first glance, using social media as a marketing tool looks easy. But is it?
Starr Hall: There is definitely an art to using social media for marketing purposes, to grow your business and to build a personal reputation. In this digital relationship age, it is vital to learn online language and communication so that you can build credibility and long-term relationships.
Once you learn the art, it can be easy depending on how you approach it on an ongoing basis. If you stay involved online, it will get easier and less time consuming – however, if you only browse now and then and post a few times here and there, you will be on a hamster wheel and eventually become very tired with little to no results surfacing from your efforts or lack of.
